About Me
Hadih (Hello) Everyone
I am Markayla M. Wilson, I am from Wit'at Nation ( Lake Babine Nation ) and currently residing on Wet'suwet'en territory.
I started beading in the winter of 2018. My passion for art has been alive for as long as I can remember. I am grateful to have beads as my medium for my pieces.
I love to make pop culture pieces, goth/emo jewelry, cutesy pink jewelry, and modern formline pieces.
I am a mom to my beautiful three year old son. I have been sober for 4+ years now! I have struggled with rheumatoid arthritis for over 10 years now. I am so grateful to have been able to make a career out of my love of art and be able to take needed breaks for my health and for my son. <3
Mesih Cho (Thank you very much) for all of your love and support! <3

Hhighway of Tears
I have grown up learning about the sad endings and unfinished stories of many young women who have been lost or found deceased along the highway of tears. My late Aunt Ramona being one of them. Every June 11th, we walk along highway 16 to yelich road in Smithers where she was found to remember her and to bring awareness to mmiwg2s across turtle island.

To my late uncle Louis, uncle Tim, and cousin Eric. We still share memories of you all with each other and I appreciate your visits I my dreams. Nenyust'en ( May we meet again )

I was definitely dreaming of summer while working on this piece. The beautiful fields of fireweed filled with buzzing bees. I hope to be back home all summer and just soak up the sun by the river.
Talok 'Uze ( Month of Salmon )
Wit'ane Keh, Wit'at, Fort Babine. A place of many names. A gorgeous lake and a fruitful river. Flourishing forests full of medicine and berries. There's plentiful species of animals that share these prosperous lands with us. This village is my home and it has taught me so much. Every year as the summer slowly fades into autumn, we will gather together to start our salmon harvest. Cases upon cases of empty jars ready to be filled, the clinging sound of the knives being sharpened, the cold breeze of the morning air. All of the bins are full of beautiful fatty salmon that were pulled from the river at 7 am sharp. The smokehouse is empty and ready to be filled. The cool morning quickly turns to a burning afternoon as the canners are hissing away and the smoke burns my eyes as I try to hang the last of the salmon. The tables and cutting stations get scrubbed down before we feast on the fresh salmon that will make us sleepy before the evening falls. The harvest of the day is finally over as we grab the last jars from the canner and clean them. We finally get to go inside and rest until we start all over again the next morning. I've been apart of this every year since I was a kid and now my son will learn as I have. That is what I get excited for every year. This is what home feels like in my heart. I can't wait for Talok 'Uze.
